An exciting opportunity has arisen within West Suffolk's Senior Management Team for a new Service Manager role in IT. At the heart of West Suffolk's delivery of its high quality services, and its role in improving the quality of life for residents, lies accurate and accessible information, supported by excellent information and communications technology.
West Suffolk has a reputation for being forward facing and innovative, and this role is key to shaping and implementing the councils' 'use of information' agenda. The role is also key in providing professional leadership and management of the councils' approach to information technology to underpin its approach and its delivery of high quality systems.
The role includes leading work to maximise the value of the councils' IT assets and systems, by understanding customer needs, implementing innovative technological solutions, improving efficiency, working in partnership and generating income from the service.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and negotiator and will be responsible for providing effective leadership and operational management to the IT team, ensuring that staff adopt the values and expected behaviours of the organisations and deliver a high performance culture. A strong IT services background is essential, and familiarity with local government systems and security requirements would be an advantage.
