o Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will work alongside the contract delivery team to ensure the profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting of schemes, within Highways & Utilities. Undertake cost to complete / budget reviews with the contract delivery teams.
o Ensure commercial challenge at all times to site teams
o To ensure draft/outline CTC's are in place at via communication with Project Managers
o Compile sub contract orders required within the Highways & Utilities business
o Attend internal and external commercial review meetings
o Produce management information required by Highways & Utilities and take responsibility for the accuracy of said information (Provisions, cashflows, Applications, Design & SI targets etc)
o Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
o Manage the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement with significant input from the site managers and project engineers
o Final account negotiation achieving the best possible outcome for Highways & Utilities
o Preparation of / assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works
o Upload documentation as and when necessary in line with business requirements
o Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement.
o Maximising value and minimising cost, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base
o Working with the operational teams to deliver and manage performance against the Profit Improvement Plan
o Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI's
o Ensure that the delivery team are briefed and have sufficient commercial support to monitor and react to budget variances
o Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base
o Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met
o Ensuring that cash flow is maximised including ensuring that payments are received on time
o Preparation of monthly management and financial performance reports
o Work in conjunction with the PM's and Project engineers to ensure the budgets are not exceeded
o Responsibility of validating sensitive commercial information for other team members prior to submission of said information up the reporting chain
o Management of commercial aspects with the client inc. Comp events, extension of time, completion request etc

Skills & Qualifications required:

o An industry applicable ONC/HNC/BSc equivalent
o Commercial and contractual awareness with a proven track record of success
o A good level of competency of Microsoft packages
o Self-motivation, passion and a driven 'can do' attitude
o Be able to organise yourself and others workload
o Be proactive in your approach
o An excellent communicator
o A high level of diplomacy and customer focused
o The ability to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention
o Demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple clients, forms of contract and methods of measurement
o Have a civil engineering or building background
