Kingsley Consulting are recruiting a Senior QS/ Commercial Manager for our Client in London. Our Client is one of the UK's largest Roofing Contractors, who continue to experience significant growth and profitability year on year. Part of a £25m Group of Companies, our Client is looking for an exceptional candidate to join the business in this very exciting phase. This is the first role of its kind across the Group, so the highest calibre of individual is sought, to help drive the Group forward.

Our client works with all of the major contractors on Construction Projects ranging from £5m - £20m in value. Projects they specialise in delivering are within the Commercial, Domestic, MOD and Local Government Sectors, mainly focusing on various forms of Roofing works.

Location: London (But travel across the UK required)
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000

Role Overview:
Reporting into the Group General Manager, the position holder will work closely with Contracts Manager on all Pre/Post contract negotiations with the Client and remain active through the contract, supporting the delivery phase to ensuring that all Projects retain a high level of profitability throughout execution.

Key Responsibilities:
• Full control and commercial management of all contract variations.
• Pre-Contract negotiations.
• Stakeholder Management - Manage relationships with end clients as well as suppliers.
• Project Cost Management
• Ensure effective integration with all aspects of projects and collaboration with internal project management teams and external sub-contractors to establish good, continuous communication.
• Preparing tender and contract documentation for major projects
• Provide advice internally on improving profitability on contracts
• Identification and issuing of further chargeable works through contract variations
• Protection of all Projects profit margins, whilst maintaining company's reputation and relationships with all stakeholders, clients and suppliers.

Person Profile:
A background in a Commercial Quantity Surveying or Senior Quantity Surveying within the Construction Sector is prerequisite.

You will need to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills and be able to quickly prioritise your workload. The ability to look ahead and ensure problems are identified before they occur, or if they escalate, resolve them in the right way with the Customer to ensure relationship is retained. Experience of previous contractual gains and strong rebuffing of client charges through alterations and variations of works and timelines, whilst not damaging the relationships, must be demonstrated in order to protect the company's interests, future works and current project profitability at all times.

You will work very closely with the Site Manager and Contracts Manager in making decisions and will require strong commercial and people skills as well as astute contractual awareness.

The ability to get on well with others and be able to calmly and effectively analyse problems as they arise and then quickly reach the right decisions as part of a team is vital, as is the need for a good sense of humour and a highly professional approach. The willingness to learn and the will and desire to reach the highest standards, together with a positive attitude are essential. Any previous specialist or generalist Roofing project experience could be beneficial but is by no means essential.
