Our Client is a subsidiary of a leading global provider of design, engineering, program management, construction management, and operations and maintenance support. They provide facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai, Egypt.|
They are currently seeking an Electrician experienced in HV to be primarily based at their South Camp located at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. This is an 18 month contract position initially and then renewable for an additional 18 months.
Reporting into the Power Plant Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Power Plant Operators and Mechanics.
Specifically, you will responsible for supervising the preventive and corrective maintenance operations within your field of competence, and will also ensure preventive and corrective maintenance operations under your responsibility are carried out in strict accordance with our client's current safety rules and operating procedures; also in accordance with standard industry practice, thereby guaranteeing the quality of maintenance operations carried out on site. You will also be responsible for guaranteeing a good level of availability of the equipment or special tooling responsible for production.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, organizing onsite preventive and corrective maintenance operations which are placed under your responsibility.
You will assist the Planning Team by giving any technical support for the preparation of the jobs in your discipline.
You will report daily directly to the designated Supervisor/Manager of HV Electrical department status.
You will ensure that the Company, Customer and Site Regulations and Policies are adhered to and respected, as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under your responsibility.
You will monitor and maintain equipment and special tooling placed under your responsibility to include upkeep of Company/Site vehicles.
You will keep a critical eye on current corrective and preventive maintenance programs and, if needed, suggest and make improvements.
You will verify the performance of your team by frequent on site checks.
You will ensure that the members of your team have the qualifications and skills required for the task entrusted to them.
You will maintain accurate records of all work accomplished, in work, and future tasks. You will ensure accurate and timely completion of work orders.
You will order materials for service and repair jobs within framework of work orders.
You will ensure that all safety instructions are complied with and that all tools, machinery and equipment are correctly maintained and used and that safety gear is worn as appropriate.
You will ensure that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring to the Egyptian workforce occurs properly within your team, and you will actively supervise tasks being performed.
Finally, you will train and direct subordinate Egyptian National staff in applicable areas of performance in accordance with Generally Accepted Industry and Professional Standards and the approved On-Job- Training Program.
Although this role is based primarily at our clients South Camp, you will from time to time be required to work at their North Camp which is close to the Mediterranean coast.
Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an accomplished Electrician with experience of both low voltage and high voltage electrical power distribution and of oil testing and transformer housekeeping. Ideally you will have specific experience and knowledge of power generation in an overseas remote location. Some supervisory team leader experience is highly desirable
Your practical experience should include having served a full engineering apprenticeship in electrical engineering supported by a technical qualification in electrical practice (UK Higher National Certificate or equivalent).
You should be British 17th Edition, City & Guild, 2382-12, Certificated or equivalent.
You should have had training in high voltage switchgear and oil filled transformers from 3800v to 22000v and you should have excellent knowledge of European, American and British standards and practice.
You should have knowledge of the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures, and other electrical appliances used for light, heat or power purposes.
You should have knowledge of working details of the more complex low voltage installation and repair operations.
You should have knowledge of the legal requirements governing the performance of electrical work; the ability to analyze and interpret complex blueprints and wiring diagrams as well as the skills in the use of the tools of the trade.
You should be able to interpret construction drawings and blueprints to determine material and tools required to accomplish works from visual inspection and blueprints.
You should have the knowledge and ability to prepare building electrical layouts.
You must also have working knowledge and practical experience of 3-phase electric motors, controls, solenoids, relays and other assemblies.
You should be capable of working in fast paced, changing priority work environment; results oriented and focused on outcomes.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals. You will be flexible, possess initiative and able to pick things up quickly.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally, you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 38 days over the 18 month contract plus 12 public holidays a year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
