Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is searching for a Field Support Representative (FSR) to support the US Coast Guard (USCG) Sector of Humboldt Bay which includes sites in Northern California. The selected candidate will be required to drive a company supplied vehicle to cover a minimum of nine Rescue 21 sites: USCG Sector Humboldt Bay is located in McKinleyville, CA, three USCG Stations and four Remote Fixed Facilities (RFFs). The selected candidate should be located within a 40 mile radius of McKinleyville, CA.
The FSR will work out of their personal home and have a GDMS supplied vehicle, tools and supplies necessary to maintain a minimum of eleven Rescue 21 sites including a regional depot spares location. The primary responsibility of this role is for equipment and system support of the Rescue 21 communication system. The system has remote sites throughout Northern California area and the FSR will provide emergency repair response coverage and total system preventive maintenance coverage. The successful candidate has detailed knowledge of system tactical employment and optimization and the ability to document failures and corrective action in accordance with proper procedures and methods. This role will act independently in most situations and will will prepare and submit periodic status reports and inventories as required by operational procedures.
Additionally the FSR will:
The FSR must have a minimum of 25 weeks of military technical training school with nene years experience, or two years of directly related non-military technical trade school or equivalent with nine years experience or BS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Additionally the FSR should be proficient in utilizing RF bench and portable test equipment and have experience in the operation and maintenance of radio equipment, an FCC license is a plus. Candidate must have knowledge of generally accepted technical (electronic) theory and large communication troubleshooting capability. Candidate must have knowledge/experience with networking, computers and software applications. Good interpersonal and organization skills are a requirement. Candidate must have the ability to work from verbal and written instructions. Candidate must be willing to work extra hours as needed to meet business goals. Valid driver's license required. This position requires operation of a company or customer-owned motorized vehicle. *Experience and qualifications will determine final level.
Department of Defense Secret clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
