Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Commissioning Agent - HVAC for immediate employment. This position is responsible for managing and implementing the commissioning process for heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems throughout a K-12 school district and ensuring that equipment and systems are functioning at the efficiency level for which they were designed.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Works with project managers, architects, engineers, consultants and district maintenance staff to ensure mechanical systems are adequate, cost effective, and efficient
  • Develops building commissioning plans and pre-functional and functional test procedures in accordance with ASHRAE standards
  • Reviews equipment submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design documents, district standards, design guidelines, and functional testing plans
  • Reviews final pre-functional documentation submitted by contractors
  • Diagnoses and assists with resolution of problems that could impact timely startup of equipment and/or systems
  • Conducts and/or oversees functional testing of MEP systems. Documents performance shortfalls and recommends corrective action
  • Performs commissioning site visits
  • Provides progress reports and the final commissioning report

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience must demonstrate progressively responsible duties up to and including commissioning of mechanical systems on medium to large commercial projects with a construction value in excess of $10M
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building control, and life safety systems
  • Knowledge of current national and local mechanical codes and regulations (ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA)
  • Ability to review, understand, and evaluate drawings and specifications and provide comments and recommendations
  • Training and/or certification in any of the following areas: building automation controls, building commissioning procedures, boiler maintenance, refrigeration, autoclave fundamentals, energy analysis, computerized maintenance management software, various direct digital control systems, and/or testing, adjusting, and balancing heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • BCA Certified Commissioning Provider (CCP)
  • Experience on California K-12 education projects/programs and familiarity with DSA requirements is preferred
