Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior Courts Planner to work in our Arlington, VA office.

Candidates for this position must have s ignificant prior experience in courts planning and design, space programming, and master planning, demonstrated experience with a full range of Justice Projects and k nowledge of the industry's best practice standards pertaining to courts design and planning .

Our B P team is leading the industry with visionary and forward-thinking projects such as the Governor George Deukmejian Long Beach Courthouse, Long Beach, CA, United States Courthouse, Mobile, AL; Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA; Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, New York, NY; the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience (Big U), NY; and the LA 2024 Olympic bid.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
  • Define and manage client expectations as it relates to courts planning and programming
  • Willingly and enthusiastically mentor and advise the next generation of courts planners
  • Responsible for participating in business development pursuits
  • Foster collaborative leadership behaviors both internally and with clients
  • Coordinate a team of 5-7 people and work on multiple projects simultaneously

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Planning, or related field
  • 10 years of experience with at least 5 years of experience in courts planning
  • Licensed Architect or Planner
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
  • Significant prior experience in courts planning and design (Federal, State and Local), space programming, and master planning
  • Knowledge of industry best practice standards courts design and planning
  • Significant experience with a full range Justice Projects
  • Significant experience and understanding of the functional operations and planning of courts at all levels and types
  • Experience with presenting to clients and interviewing with senior justice team members in pursuit settings
  • Strong knowledge of design trends and standards
  • Track record of success with pursuing, designing, and managing projects of significant size and complexity
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent ability to interact with current and prospective clients

Preferred Qualifications
  • 15 years of experience with at least 10 years of experience in courts planning is preferred
  • Established reputation with Justice and Courts work at the national level
  • Experience with GSA projects and the US Courts Design Guide as well as State and local governments
  • LEED AP (preferred)
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong hand and CAD drafting skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketch-up, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Previous active engagement in local and national organizations is a plus
  • Experience with design build and alternative delivery projects
