Job Summary
AECOM is currently recruiting for a Site Engineer, reporting to the Resident Engineer and will be responsible for all aspects of the inspection activities on the project. The Site Engineer's tasks are to observe the Contractor's construction practices and progress of work in accordance with the requirements of the Contract. The Site Engineer is required to liaise with the Contractor's Staff and Utilities companies to co-ordinate works between the
two parties.

Duties and Responsibilities;

The main responsibility is to make sure that work is carried out to the Public Works Authority's (PWA) standards,
specification and schedule.

  • Ensuring inspections of the works are to be carried out on site to monitor compliance of the execution of the works in relation to the Public Works Authority requirements and the design.
  • Providing technical support to the Senior Works Inspectors in performing their monitoring of the contractor's compliance in the execution of the works;
  • Ensuring the correct contract drawings and specifications are used by the site supervision team in the monitoring of the works;
  • Reviewing shop drawings and material submissions; make recommendation for approval or otherwise to the Resident Engineer;
  • Providing input for the Resident Engineer to respond to the contractor's technical queries;
  • Monitoring work on variations, maintain records and feedback of the effectson progress to the Resident Engineer;
  • Investigating construction issues and provide solutions and corrective actions for the Resident Engineer to issue instructions for additional works or variations;
  • Providing information and input from the inspection team to the monthly progress report;
  • Liaising and coordinating between the contractor and utilities authorities on diversionary works;
  • Reviewing the contractors inspection and test plans in accordance with the contract requirements and coordinating inspections with the Senior Works Inspector and Senior Materials Engineer, ensuring all inspection and testing activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures;
  • Ensuring sign off all Requests for Inspection (RFI) and hold points with the contractor;
  • Reporting to the Resident Engineer, when work or materials do not comply, that the work or materials must be re-tested, remedied or removed, as appropriate or an Non-Conformance Report (NCR) raised;
  • Ensuring non-compliant works are re-tested, remedied or removed and NCR's are closed out by the contractor; and,
  • Liaising with the QA/QC Engineer and Safety Engineer to flag and rectify any issues which may affect the quality and safety of the works.

Minimum Requirements
BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent - Western qualification preferred but not essential
Chartered Status/Professional License preferred but not essential

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 14 years experience since obtaining maximum educational qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar project specific role of which are in a supervisory and construction management role in infrastructure and roads projects. Familiar with requirements of Public Works Authority in Qatar.
  • Minimum 10 years experience since obtaining minimum educational qualification and minimum 7 years similar
  • experience.
  • Experience within the Middle East region preferred.
