Your new role
In your role you will assist and produce priced tenders that are accurate, clearly detailed, competitive and returned within deadlines. You will have experience maintaining good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations and provide clearly identified price build-ups to the Contract team. The desired outcome being that the Company will achieve sufficient new work to enable continued growth in accordance with the Business Plan. Their reputation for quality, professionalism, fairness and success will be kept foremost in our clients' and our competitors' minds.
You will use drawings and specifications to produce multiple competitive tenders and estimates up to the value of £2m, provide a a detailed "take-off" and Bill of Quantities (BQ) using the available Estimating software package and work on traditional Plan & Specification and Design & Build Contracts. It will be necessary to oversee or complete the quote analysis comparison and make selection of outsourced contractors for inclusion in priced tender and attend site meetings for initial and further inspections. Furthermore, you will discuss construction sequence of project with Contracts Managers to enable a proposed construction period to be determined and meet with the Client team to carry out value engineering exercises if necessary liaising with the relevant internal departments and suppliers and/or sub-contractors as appropriate. Data management and project procurement will also be an important element of your position.
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential you have knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking-off), Health & Safety and management skills in programming, planning and compiling reports. You should have knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities and demonstrate good negotiation, influencing and communication skills. You will be highly numerate with well-developed ability to accurately manipulate numerical information. A degree or Higher National Certificate in Construction/Building, or equivalent will be advantageous and you will have strong experience in construction estimating, preferably in the high end residential sector of the market.
