My client, a local authority based in the South Wales area is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary role and the successful candidate will have a full UK drivers license, relevant experience in a similar role and a HNC or Equivalent in Building Surveying.

The main responsibilities of the role will include;

Under the direction of the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager to assist in the provision of the efficient and effective repairs and maintenance of the housing stock and delivery of associated Housing services.

The post holder will support the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager and will work as part of a team of Surveyors to monitor Contractors and provide a comprehensive repairs and maintenance service

Other duties will include;

To undertake pre and post surveys and contract/response duties under the direction of the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager as required, and to assist in the preparation and control of contract/response works.
To take and report any defects to the housing stock and to process any work relating to resolving these defects under the direction of the Principal Officer.
To undertake regular site inspections to ensure that work being undertaken is in accordance with the contract requirements and associated documentation.
To agree variations and issue directions to Contractors as and when necessary, and maintain site records and administration. To liaise with Contractors, Council staff and Consultants and report to the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager as necessary.
To post inspect work as required and to ensure that it conforms to departmental and contractual standards and in full compliance with all relevant legislation.
To assist in the implementation of a programme for planned and preventative maintenance.
