Today that is represented in our key role delivering the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier and our programmes include the world's most advanced, fully integrated, passive and active search and attack sonar suite fitted to the new Astute Class submarine.

As the International Mission Systems Engineer you will be the key in country technical interface with our industrial partner in Thailand and your UK engineering colleagues in the delivery of a naval upgrade programme for our customer. Confronting unique technical challenges you will ensure the successful integration in country of a Thales Mission System including a full upgrade of sonar, C2, navigation, mine disposal and signature range systems alongside the platform refurbishment.

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as site authority for all mission system work being done on site and approving and amending changes
  • Providing critical technical and managerial support to our industrial partner validating capability of suppliers
  • Verifying Thales designs and installations methodologies against the actual ships
  • Anticipating and mitigating technical challenges through innovative thinking that could lead to any delays or budget over runs
  • Communicating with UK colleagues on all progress and milestones.

Skills qualifications and experience

  • First-hand experience or mission system upgrades on either civil or naval ships
  • International flexibility to spend significant amounts of time either being based in Thailand or ability to spend 80% if time in country
  • Collaborative and innovative in dealing with unique technical challenges
  • Transparent communicator who is sensitive to multi-cultural environments.
