About the Business Line
We address the complete spectrum of energy challenges, including clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon management, hydropower and dams, thermal, geothermal and wind power generation, and transmission and distribution.
At AECOM we are addressing the world's appetite for energy by aligning our integrated consultancy teams with the needs and goals of developers, construction contractors, financiers and operators of energy infrastructure. In Europe our energy professionals are focused on the delivery of Hydropower, Wind, Solar, and Energy from Waste projects.
We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Principal Engineer - Hydro Power to join our team in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office. This is delivery focused role requiring a strong technical understanding of Hydro-electricity development and, in particular, a good working knowledge of hydro-mechanical equipment and electrical generation and control systems.
It is likely that the role will be fulfilled by an electrical or mechanical engineer but experienced candidates from other disciplines (civil engineering, hydrology, project management etc) may be appropriate. This role shall be responsible for the delivery of design work on hydro, with input to other energy projects as appropriate. Experience of work on small hydro is essential but work on large hydro and/or other energy infrastructure is highly desirable. This role will report to the Head of Hydro Energy Europe who reports to the Managing Director Energy Europe.
