Do you like challenges? Like the idea of working for a company that is targeting to double their turnover for the next 5 years? |
If you like all of this and have a background in business development or some sort of construction sales please read on.
I am looking for a business development manager for a main contractor based in North London and can pay up to £70,000 as an all in package plus travel expenses. There is also a potential bonus and will be rewarded on work won.
The contractor have been established for 5 years, currently have a turnover of £15 million and split the business 50:50, so half of the business is smaller works from £50,000 - £500,000 which is mostly smaller housing developments, involving refurbishments and small extensions. The other half is a main contracting arm that works on projects from £2 - 10 million, including a large commercial to residential development valued at £9.5 million, a new build residential block valued at £7 million.
All of this work has come from word of mouth and referrals but due to the MD wanting to expand they have decided that they need a BDM.
Due to these expansion plans they have appointed a new Operations Director who comes from a high calibre and already in his 3 months started to change a lot and bring the contractor up to speed. His background is 8 years as a Head of Business for a very large contractor and was tempted by the challenge and having the freedom to do what he wants. So with regards to business development he has outsourced the role to a company but wants to bring this all in house as soon as possible.
The challenging part of this is the current state of the company, they have offices based in North London that are in the process of being re-developed. They have no procedures, no real brochures or literature to give to clients. The Operations Director is very strong on BD and is client facing but can not spend all of his time doing this. So the role is to set up everything, establish some procedures working closely with the Opps Director and then develop a team.
Other duties will include:
* Develop and Generate new business streams to compliment the existing work load
* Manage and develop existing clients
* Manage the preconstruction team proposals including production of all tender and pre-qualification documentation and submissions.
* Bid Management of all tenders.
* Bid Management of and written submissions
* Develop and Manage new client and consultant relationships to provide sustainable opportunity.
* Responsibility for generating quality tender opportunity and conversion to achieve the business objectives within the M25.
* Manage the PR and Marketing functions within the business
The ideal candidate is somebody who has previous business development in construction, somebody who is up for a challenge and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty.
For me this is a good opportunity for somebody who is fed up of being treated like a number and wants a company where they can make a difference. If you would like to know more please call Ricky in the London office or send in your CV.
