We are currently assisting our client, a local authority based in Bedfordshire, to find an experienced Highways design Engineer to join their busy Highways team.|
What the job is for:
As one of the councils technicians you will Investigate and prepare highway and civil engineering projects for construction including carrying out any necessary consultation, site meetings, liaison with other departments/ agencies/ contractors, estimates, preliminary designs, drawings, contract preparation and budgetary/financial monitoring. Liaise with external agencies. Ensure that project designs comply with current safety requirements including assisting with Safety Audits.
What you will be responsible for:
You will assist in the implementation of highway engineering projects, including consulting, notifying and liaising with residents, business, members and other stakeholders. Assist with the site supervision and monitoring progress of the project.
Produce drawings and plans in respect of all assigned schemes and projects using AutoCAD drafting techniques. Produce progress reports in respect of assigned projects.
Assist in ensuring the design and implementation of schemes complies with national and local standards, regulations, legislation, codes of practice, guides etc taking corrective action when necessary. Maintain precise financial and performance data for each scheme and forward such data to superior/monitoring officers on a regular basis in accordance with divisional quality procedures and processes.
What you will need to succeed:
•Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD (Essential)
•Access to and necessary license for a vehicle
•Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
•Experience in general office procedures

•Competent IT skills.
•Excellent time keeping
•Report writing skills.
•Ability to work under pressure
