Role purpose:

To be accountable for the successful completion of all projects undertaken in line with the
Stage Gate process.
To lead and drive the performance improvement programme by identifying opportunities and delivering an
agreed programme of operational improvement projects.
To effectively build a strong coalition within the Senior Contract Management Teams and the wider
team. The role will lead to the improvement of the end to end process and increased performance in operational
Delivery of work programmes.

Key Accountabilities:

Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports the company values.
Ensure that all projects and designated duties are successfully carried out in accordance with safety,
technical and legislative policies and procedures
Ensure performance is measured correctly and issues are responded to in the most reasonable and
economical way
Ensure that all works are completed in accordance with the programme of works
Lead and drive the defined contract projects (such as contract improvement programme) ensuring key
stakeholders are involved and contract changes are anchored within the culture and working practice of
the contract
Lead and develop a high performing team within the contract management team and wider workforce by
providing clear direction and management support for team members through regular joint meetings and
one to ones, facilitating a participative culture for decision making and personal development.
Develop and maintain proactive and positive relationships with all key stakeholders within across the wider Group.
Engage with Clients (as required) for improvement projects and provision of support to their business

Key Responsibilities:

Detailed planning and management of any works within a given area, delivering high productivity in a safe
and efficient manner, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies
Ensure high productivity and efficiency through effective control and utilisation of the contract work force
and it's resources, operating within the appropriate Safety Management system as defined by HS (G) 65
and the Board of Directors
Promote a professional image of performance management on the contract
Define, develop and deliver a range of improvement projects aligned to contract improvement and
business plan objectives
Proactively motivate and develop the workforce encouraging good communication and team work
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation
Ensure that all operational staff has the appropriate competencies to undertake works allocated to them
Supporting the sector in business change activities required to meet the overall business objectives within
the contract
Maintain all project documentation ensuring regular and accurate updates
Provide progress reports and updates to the sector and regional management teams and Departmental
Heads where required
Work closely with back office and commercial management team to ensure that all processes and
activities are carried and completed in accordance with the approved procedures
Create and maintain good communication and relationships with clients, suppliers, councils, staff and
members of the public
Chair contract meetings held with all parties associated with the works
Be accountable for the project delivery ensuring the utilisation and implementation of the Stage Gate
process and working closely with the relevant stakeholders
Ensure that all accidents, dangerous occurrences an near miss incidents are reported as per the company
Accept full responsibility for the compliance with the CDM Management of Health & Safety 2007
Lead teams by example for good housekeeping personal appearance and compliance with general safety
and general Health & Safety Policies

Interacts with:

Client representatives
Company colleagues within operational and central services
External Industry Best Practice Forums
Representatives of other operating companies within the Group
Third party providers

Skills Required:

Full driving licence (maximum 6 points)
Experience and recognized qualifications in Project Management
Excellent communication and leadership skills and able to work with people at all levels of the business
Highly developed coaching, mentoring and training skills with the ability to effectively utilize within
significant business change projects
PC skills including knowledge of scheduling and works management systems, cost reporting systems,
business objects, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Power-point and MS Visio
Previous experience of leading change within a complex and challenging work environment
