|Job Ref:||204591064||Employer:||cv-library.co.uk||Industry:||Construction||Job Type:||Permanent||Country:||United Kingdom||City:||Sandhurst||Address:||Post Code:||TN18||Salary:||£30000 - £35000/annum||Post Date:||24/10/2016 08:38|
Our client is a leading UK specialist in contaminated land, primarily dealing with inland and residential petrochemical spills, but well equipped to deal with a wide variety of environmental work.|
This vacancy is a permanent full time role and would suit a multi-skilled operative who is confident taking on a wide variety of building work with minimal to no supervision. It would also suit someone who likes a good amount of variety, as no two days will be the same! As well as the hands on work, the successful candidate will have experience in supervising teams, and some senior experience which would hopefully cross over in to areas such as risk assessments and more.
Following assessment of the contaminated site by Environmental Scientists, the Site Operatives head out in teams of two to remove the contaminated land, and restore the site to its previous state. Hence the job can involve anything to do with building work - it could be walls coming down, rebuilding walls, rewiring electrics, plumbing, repainting, plastering, tiling etc., whatever it takes to restore the site to it's original glory.
Skilled work requiring certification (such as electrical / plumbing etc.) would generally be handled by subcontractors. Although if you have any certifications that allow you to do it yourself, that would be considered a benefit.
The standard hours are 8-5, but overtime is very much part of the job should you want it, particularly when working on sites that are farther afield, or if needing a bit of extra time to finish up on a job. Overtime is paid normal rate during the week, 1.5x on Saturdays and 2x on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
There is also very occasional work that will require short term stays near the site. This won't ever be for weeks, but 1 or 2 nights when the job is a little further afield than normal. Again, this is not the norm and won't be regular. Accommodation is of course provided for work of this type, and extra money is provided for food and drink on these occasions.
Requirements to apply:
Experience working as a builder / groundworker / construction operative, skilled in a range of building tasks.
Senior / Supervisory experience
Ability to work in small teams with minimal to no supervision.
CSCS card good but not required.
Health and Safety knowledge good but not required.
Digger / dumper certificates would be good, but not required.
Anything extra relating to building / groundworking can also be beneficial (plumbing, electrics etc.)
