POSITION: Incident Support Unit/ Highways Maintenance Operatives.

These roles are all temporary with a view to going permanent for the right candidates. Over a period of 13 weeks, we aim to have trained all candidates to a high standard in order to prepare them for a permanent contract.
Carillion offer competitive rates, a structured bonus scheme & referral rewards as well as full training and career progression opportunities. Upon start, all candidates will be put through their 12AB training on Road Safety as a basic platform and introduction to the job role importance.
As well as progression within Carillion, there is also various ways to develop within your own depot such as becoming a depot representative. This would involve becoming a spokesperson for your team with an element of supervisory duties.
RATE OF PAY:
The hourly rate is £8.99 - £9.76 (depending on level of qualification) AND for every four shifts worked in sequence, a bonus shift allowance of £56 will be received.
HOURS OF WORK:
12 hour continental shifts (four on/four off) Days and Nights. With the opportunity for over time if wanted.
LOCATION: There are three depots along the M40, but currently we have the greatest need in the Banbury Area

PLEASE NOTE: It is Carillion Policy to not work more than 14 hours a day door-to-door due to health and safety/fatigue management.
Working closely with the Highways Inspectors to provide 24/7 maintenance to the M40.
This role will include supporting the emergency services in the event of highway accidents.
The post holder will play a vital part in keeping traffic moving safely on this busy road.
Also to be responsible for routine maintenance, cleaning and checking of the incident support vehicles and all machinery used to service the roads.
Cleaning, gritting and working in partnership with the highways agency to ensure the road is well maintained and accessible.
The candidate would be expected to respond rapidly to reactive call-outs.
This is a varied role and tasks likely to change on a daily basis. The right candidate must be prepared to turn their hand to various tasks within a very fast -paced, changing environment.
Responding to accident call-outs within given time-frames to help assist emergency services and maintain the steady flow of traffic as best possible
Gritting roads during bad weather warnings to make the road is as safe as possible
General repairs and maintenance work to barriers
Litter picking/removal of waste/traffic obstructions
Key duties are varied and changeable on a daily basis
Effective communication between Depots, other team members and services to maintain smooth operations along the M40
Reporting any health and safety issues using Carillion's 'Don't Walk By' procedure
No direct qualifications necessary apart from HGV Class 2 and/or 7.5 ton driving capabilities on license (Pre 1997 or C1 category)
A background in highways/maintenance/traffic management/groundwork's or general civil construction would be preferred
Any qualifications or training within these fields would be beneficial to the candidates
This role would suit a dedicated person eager to join a large plc and become a working member of a well-established highways team.
The right candidate will be reliable, work conscience and able to work within strict deadlines
Must be willing to develop their knowledge on their job role and grow within the company.
A good working knowledge of health and safety issues is vital for this role
Vehicle and PPE are all provided
A full site induction will be carried out upon start
