We are working with our client to recruit an experienced Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager, to oversee a multi-disciplined team of engineers including naval architects, marine, structural, electrical & statutory engineers, which is about 60 strong.
The team will be working on a series of complex marine engineering projects, primarily the front end and concept design of ships and FPSOs. These are for customers such as Shell and major Oil and Gas construction companies.
The Chief Engineer's primary role will be:
* Managing technical integrity & quality of design process to meet customer requirements.
* Manage commercial marine engineering teams
* Planning & overseeing project in length from 1 month to 3 years
* Delivering from 5 to 12 complex marine engineering projects (value from £20k to £8.5m
* Maintaining relationships with major oil & gas construction companies such as Shell
* Other duties as required
The ideal candidate will have a Marine engineering background with significant experience in engineering design in the marine and offshore environment with 10 - 20 years post degree experience or significant engineering management experience in lieu of a degree. It would be advantageous to be a Chartered engineer (ideally) or member of relevant professional body e.g. RINA & be from a ship builder, consultancy or classification society such as Lloyds Register, BV, ABS.

On offer for this position is an attractive salary up to £65,000 (depending on experience), for a 4.5-day week plus company benefits. A full UK driving licence is essential. Relocation offered for the successful candidate if required.
