The Program
Here is your opportunity to work on the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. while growing your career on a groundbreaking project. The California High-Speed Rail program will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.

The Role
The California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team. As a result we have an immediate opportunity for a Accounting Assistant / Cost Analyst at our Sacramento program office, reporting to the Cost Manager for the Program. This represents a real opportunity to grow your career while working among professionals in a range of disciplines on a major program. The principal duties of the Accounting Assistant / Cost Analyst are:

      • Assist with the implementation of cost data collection systems and other strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
      • Gather/acquire program data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
      • Filter and align cost data, review reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct cost code problems
      • Interpret program cost data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
      • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex program financial data sets
      • Extract and categorize key data elements from contracts and invoices
      • Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs
      • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Job Requirements
The Requirements
The requirements of the Accounting Assistant / Cost Analyst are:

      • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and categorize significant amounts of detailed information as well as financial information with attention to detail and accuracy
      • Business or college coursework preferred
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication and organizational skills, both orally and written
      • The ability to work in the United States immediately is required
      • Preference will be given to local candidates
