The Unplanned Avionics Technician - position is designated for the Tucson Business Aircraft Service Center. The Unplanned Avionics Technician troubleshoots repairs, inspect, modifies and services aircraft avionics, electrical and electronic equipment. Performs and documents all work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required. Travel may include International assignments. Additional work on drop-ins and planned maintenance within the facility during slow periods of unplanned maintenance may be required.

The Unplanned Maintenance Group will be comprised of technicians that are hangar based and are assigned to drop-in aircraft and technicians that travel and are assigned to AOG aircraft. For the technician assigned to AOG aircraft, there will be considerable travel and extended assignments within North America. Must have the ability to be "ready to travel" with as little as 2 hour notice. Potential for International travel for extended periods of time and possibly to remote areas with few modern conveniences. Unscheduled overtime including weekends and holidays may occur.

  • Avionics / electric A/C Technical School or other substantiated equivalent
  • Typically a minimum of 2 years aircraft maintenance work experience or substantiated equivalent experience
  • Typically a minimum of 1 year experience on corporate jet aircraft
  • Full proficiency of Grade 6 or equivalent
  • Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings
  • Ability to effectively and accurately communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status with customers at all levels
  • Own Basic set of hand tools with the ability to demonstrate Inventory & control of tools
  • Must be able to work unscheduled overtime including nonscheduled work days and holidays
  • Must be able to work in seasonal/inclement weather outside
  • Must have the ability to be available for considerable travel with 2 hours' notice, to include extended assignments lasting up to 30 days.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned employees, other business areas, contractors, and customers
  • Must have a valid drivers' license and be able to maintain insurable status
  • Ability to work unsupervised and alone
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to obtain appropriate Ground Support Equipment Qualifications as required
  • Possess a valid passport with the ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA)
  • Ability to obtain a Bombardier Corporate Credit Card and stay good in standing of guideline requirements
  • Basic PC Skills
  • Bombardier aircraft model experience
  • A Certification, P Certification, A & P Certification or Repairman Certificate
  • FCC Certificate, GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) or AET (Aircraft Electronics Technician) Certificate
  • Previous experience in Customer Relations with emphasis on face to face contact
  • Ability to train other employees
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills
  • Strong planning / organization skills
  • Delegated Inspector eligible
  • Experience with aircraft return to service and inspection procedure
