Job Title: Transition Lead Systems Engineer

Main Duties:
The Transition Lead Engineer will support the production and maintenance of the transition strategy and plan. The Transition Lead will support the management of the implementation of the transition plan by taking responsibility for transition of new capabilities at various sites and by standing in for the Transition Manager as required. The successful candidate will be experienced in service and system transition preferably within a Defence and Security domain. All aspects of the DLODs need to be considered and all stakeholders need to be identified and consulted in order that the requirements are captured fully and cutovers are successful in every respect. The Transition Lead will need to spend time at both key customer sites but will be based in West London initially.

Main tasks of the role are:

• Preparing the system transition documentation;
o Support the development and approval for the transition plan;
o Produce and track the Transition Activity Plans (TAPs);
o Work alongside the integration teams to implement and test the transition plan in the form of scripts, new procedures and instructions as required;
o Rehearse the transition with the Users and gain acceptance from the customer;
• Deputise for the Transition Manager;
• Provide timely status reporting to the Transition Manager;
• Resolve system and service transition defects;
• Resolve system and service transition defects;
• Ensure a smooth transition to live service interfacing with the In Service Support team and User representatives through the process;
• Actively engage with the End Users to ensure Ways of Working issues are discovered and resolved;
• Attend Working groups for activities such as Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) and customer Day In The Life testing (DITL) to ensure transition related issues are considered.

Candidate Requirements:


• BSc in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience;
• Thorough knowledge and firsthand experience of all areas of the systems engineering lifecycle;
• A good understanding of the integration and configuration of COTS software to meet defined system requirements across a distributed estate using engineering principles;
• Knowledge and experience in planning, implementing and testing the transition of secure computer systems while maintaining system capability;
• Expertise in secure systems support and maintenance in order that the system can be transitioned into live service smoothly;
• Current SC Clearance, Willing to obtain the highest levels of UK Security Clearances;
• Disciplined and rigorous approach to transition engineering and ability to ask challenging questions about the requirements and implementation details;
• Track record of delivering work packages to cost, schedule and quality;
• Problem analysis and resolution;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to work well in a customer facing role;
• Willingness to work out of hours on occasion;
• Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas;

• Holder of current MoD DV security clearance;
• ITIL Service Transition certified;
• Experience of commercial and government IT Security environments and requirements;
• Experience of designing, implementing and supporting GIS applications;
• Ability to manage and control the expectations of a diverse set of stakeholders through the process of introducing business and system change;
• Solid grounding in the systems engineering lifecycle preferably with experience on large complex secure systems;
• Knowledge of IMINT and SIGINT/ELINT, COMINT, MASINT, OSINT, HUMINT and the analysis of the data;
• Knowledge of security aspects and solutions - JSP440;
• Knowledge of safety aspects - JSP480;
• PRINCE 2 practitioner;
