My client a leading energy provider are looking for a Category Manager to manage the strategic approach, deployable resources and availability of equipment utilised within its UK wide emergency response organisation.

The category manager will be responsible for the day to day management of a single contract partner to ensure the availability of the emergency response deployable capability to support the UK nuclear fleet. The successful candidate will develop the budget and be responsible for a spend of circa £8m ensuring value for money. This includes vehicles, equipment and training. The responsible candidate in conjunction with the contract partner will ensure there is in depth market analysis to fully leverage and support procurement decisions to ensure value for money. It would be an ideal role for somebody with background in Mechanical, Automotive or Defence industries and Logistics or Maintenance experience. Some travel will be required in this role.

* Manage existing contracts with suppliers to ensure the business receives value for money service and work schedules are maintained to meet business requirements
* Identify where specialist suppliers are required and managed the process for using their services
* Report on all supplier activity and works carried out
* Carry out supplier appraisal and support the development of tender preparation/assessments
* Act as the point of contact between the business and the supplier
* Schedule works to ensure equipment readiness without compromising the availability of equipment should it be required

Key Skills
* An Engineering degree/apprenticeship in Automotive/Aerospace sectors would be an advantage
* A Vehicle fleet maintenance background
* Commercial awareness
* Negotiation and contract management skills
* Excellent communication
