Engineering Team Manager|
Reporting to the Global head of Engineering you will lead a team of 5 to 8 engineers and designers to ensure that the mechanical design and layout aspects of the intake seawater filtration systems at Hinkley Point C nuclear power station. Mechanical engineering support will be required though the global delivery process: design, manufacturing, supervision of the installation and commissioning. A project over an estimated duration of 5 to 7 years
4x Drumscreen, low and high pressure pumps with fish recovery systems, with all structures, piping and peripherals
4 x Dual Flow Frameless Bandscreens with low and high pressure pumps and associated piping systems
12 x Half Round Debris Filters
20 x Trash Rack Screens & Raking Screens of two different sizes with instrumentation cabinets
As engineering leader you will collaborate with the other offices engineering team in different countries (mainly USA) to share the workload. You will support project managers in the delivery of the project.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
Manage mechanical engineering team using an approach per work packages and deliverable
Mechanical Design & Engineering to high specs for nuclear plants including seismic code.
Detailed design to facilitate outsourced manufacturing, installation, maintenance & decommissioning of equipment, to reduce engineering workload and production time
Application of Hazop, design risk matrix, risk assessments, CDM risk matrix/assessments.
Use IT tools and review work process to reduce documentation time and effort
Encourage best practice in engineering and CAD, using tools and software to their full extend (3D Inventor Autodesk, Vault)
Control of Mechanical Engineering budgets and deliverables
Control of sub-contract stress analyses, seismic and other specialist design tasks.
Completion of hydraulic calculations
Control of tag numbers and equipment nomenclature.
Approve all drawings ensuring they meet project requirements and company design practices
Liaison with customers, sub-contractors, assembly shop and site installation
Creating detailed Parts lists/BOM with applicable software.
Provide input to & checking of Technical Manuals to ensure bespoke nature of equipment is captured.
Detailed checking of all drawings, documentation & calculations.
Mechanical Engineering degree
Experience in power plants and nuclear industry
Master's degree in an engineering discipline would be an asset
15 years' experience as a Design Engineer in steel fabrication or heavy equipment industry
Key Experiences and Qualifications
Experience of engineering processes and productivity management
Proficient with Autocad and 3D Inventor
Ability to read, analyse, and interpret complex industry related documents
Ability and willingness to be 'hands on' in driving the department
Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development
Innovative and creative.
Strong leadership skills
