Technical Author is required on a long term Contract for a market leader in the manufacture and supply of products to the Water / Pharmaceutical / Mining / Paper and Chemical Industries.

Based at Dewsbury the Technical Author will be educated to high standard in an engineering discipline, (minimum HND/HNC) with experience of writing technical documents for engineering companies, eg; O&M Manuals, Service Guides, Trouble Shooting Guides, Installation Guides etc & help.
The Technical Author will support the design, project and service departments, working closely with them to produce documents to ensure that the correct level of information is provided in a timely manner, to end customers. Our Client has a range of equipment which is designed and manufactured in-house and associated equipment that is bought in, such as pumps. Bought in item O&M Manuals will need incorporating into the finished pack.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-- Establish contract specific requirements for manuals.
Set up templates that can be edited, for similar type products used for slightly different applications or supplied in a variety of sizes.

-- Prepare narrative and pictorial guides and where needed, supplement supplier & data design and production of O&M manuals, using Microsoft Office suite and Adobe suite.
- Ensure that all internal documentation eg drawings, equipment schedules, photos, schematics etc is available and up to date.
- Prepare / organise graphics as required for completion of the O&M manuals

The Technical Author will drive continuous improvement in technical delivery and work with the design teams, Project Engineers & Service Engineers to facilitate the integration of on-going improvement initiatives into the design and manufacturing process.
This is a stand-alone role and therefore our client can offer the right person a pretty flexible working week. They'd be happy to consider both full time and part time applications, it may be possible that some of the work could be undertaken remotely after an initial period of getting to know the products and team.
