Our client is looking for a Mechanically biased Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join their successful team.
This position is working on a 4 week shift pattern working on average 42 hours per week and it covers days and nights. For this you will earn £42,900 per annum plus excellent benefits
Work as a member of a team to ensure that the equipment on site runs efficiently and safely.
This is a "hands on" role with the focus on timely reactive response work to technical issues/breakdowns across the site. The role involves mechanical and electrical work.
1 Provide an effective emergency response service for breakdowns within the factory - providing immediate and long term solutions in a timely, safe and cost effective manner
2 Undertaking fault finding and diagnostic work to understand the problems and then implementing permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence
3 Working with the equipment users to understand clearly the problems to ensure that sustainable remedial solutions can be implemented
4 Undertaking routine maintenance on the equipment on the site
5 Issue permits to work (including immobilisation certificates) as required
6 Be pro-actively involved in undertaking risk assessments
7 Identify continuous improvement opportunities and follow these through to implementation where appropriate
8 Undertake meaningful handover reports/notes
Requirements for the Role - Competencies, Skills, Knowledge, Experience
1 Hold an ONC (or equivalent) in a mechanical engineering discipline and have successfully completed an apprenticeship scheme in that discipline - primary core skill
2 Hold at least NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical or electrical discipline as the secondary core skill
3 Holder of 17th Edition Certificate or equivalent - desirable
4 Previous experience of working in a maintenance department - preferably within a food manufacturing/processing environment
5 Knowledge of PLC's - preferably Siemens
6 Understanding of permits to work and lock off procedures
7 Operational knowledge of and ability to adhere to health and safety legislation and best practice - in particular in COSHH, working at heights, working in confined spaces, risk assessments
8 Effective communication skills - verbal and in writing
9 Is a team player as well as being able to work with limited supervision
10 Ability to problem solve effectively
10 Computer literate - maintenance software, Microsoft Office programmes - namely Excel
11 Has a proactive "can do" approach to work
