The Company

The successful Supplier Development Engineer will be working for an employer who:
are an acknowledged world market leader in the development and manufacture of advanced special purpose machine tool systems.
provide turnkey solutions for the Aerospace and Land Based Gas Turbine industries; they achieve these solutions through innovative designs for individual or multiple machines up to automated machine tool cells that integrate with modern manufacturing production systems.
have a strong customer base including Rolls Royce and Siemens.

The Role

This fantastic Supplier Development Engineer role is a great career opportunity for a driven self starter that is motivated by continuous improvement. The role itself will effectively be the technical go between between the engineering department and supply chain. You would be the technical point of contact for key suppliers and be responsible for development of supply chain capability in order to optimise supplier performance with respect to quality, cost and delivery. Duties include the control of data between the company and key suppliers; provision of supplier technical production support; problem solving investigation and resolution of supplier quality issues; development of supply chain capability through the application of business improvement tools and techniques; and provision of supplier technical support. Some overseas travel will be involved as you would be visiting suppliers in the UK and abroad.

The Candidate

As the successful Supplier Development Engineer you will ideally have a Mechanical Engineering Degree or HND or equivalent; have the ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings connected with component manufacture; experience of operating in an engineering environment - preferably with a mechanical engineering bias; be IT / Production systems literate with strong PC and CAD skills; strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate well at all levels internally and externally; be able to operate as part of a multicultural supply chain with key suppliers in multiple locations both inside and outside of the UK; be able to use business improvement tools and techniques to optimise supply chain performance; personable but resilient character; self starter with a proactive "can do" attitude. Experience of machine tools or aerospace would be highly desirable.
