Electrical Technician
Permanent £24-27K ( £12.50 -£14 / hr )

Our client is a niche manufacturer of a product that goes into the oil / gas / process industries worldwide . Over 70% of their sales are overseas and they have a great on going order book and a bright future exporting to all parts of the world! So career prospects are good and employment stable.

The Electrical Technician will have four main areas of work.

Final product Inspection ( electrically ) on products leaving the factory . Part of their QA procedures. This includes signing off on accompanying documentation. ( e.g. ATEX )

Helping with actual wiring etc especially on more complex products. Including in R & D where new products are being developed.

Site Maintenance of equipment and facilities. They are an assembly type operation so this will include things like PAT testing Servicing Electrical equipment
Changing 415V plugs
Lighting etc.
Keeping the TPM ( Planned Maintenance) system up to date

Taking charge of the development programme for company electrical apprentices. Coaching / Mentoring etc.

Support the production department in solving technical issues to ensure on time delivery.
Act as the first line contact for production on technical and engineering issues.
Liaise with the technical department for all production engineering issues.
Ensure product compliance to all necessary standards including but not limited to ATEX and all other standards and directives required for CE marking .
Perform electrical technical and safety inspections in line with all relevant standards including ATEX, COMPEX and EIC.
Support the quality department in root cause analysis of reported issues.
Development and authoring of technical documents such as Test and Inspection Procedures and Standard Operations
Support production in the development of the TPM system and the maintenance of plant equipment.
Act as facilitator for all Health and Safety requirements of the production department and ensure these requirements are in line with current legislation.
Develop and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement activities.
To help in the assembly of new prototypes and models, liaising with the research and development department to ensure the company is at the forefront of ground-breaking products.
To actively participate in the apprenticeship program, acting as mentor and lead trainer for current and apprentices.

Experience / Competencies
Multi skilled engineering knowledge primarily in electrical fields but with a good mechanical appreciation.
Understanding of product compliance to all relevant standards and directives.
Good Problem solving and root cause analysis skills
Able to work at all levels within the organisation
Able to read engineering drawings and understand technical publications.
Great time management with an ability to identify and prioritise key tasks.
Great coaching skills, ideally with apprentice mentor-ship experience

Our client is looking for a minimum of 3 years-experience in a similar role.

Minimum of a level 4 Engineering/Electrical qualification desirable.

CompEx qualified desirable but not essential.
Working knowledge of CompEx requirements and route to accreditation required.
Proactively develops and maintains good working relationships across all departments.
Good communication Skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Able and willing to attend relevant training course to support continuous professional development.
