The laborer works to support all departments plant wide through manual and physical responsibilities. Laborers work rate will be driven by the requirements of each task.
Performs all assigned duties plant wide. Regularly moves and/or transferring products and material through out the facility. Constantly handles all products and equipment carefully and efficiently. Always aware of the manufacturing process through accurate documentation of products produced. Regularly maintains the facilities interior and exterior through cleaning, sweeping and shoveling. Knows basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Works with and follows Basic Rules of Manufacturing, General Dynamics OTS Environmental Policy, ISO Documentation, Quality Policy and other work related policies.
At all times demonstrates common safety practices associated with the manufacturing environment and the use of hand or industrial equipment. Is required to recognize problems, make corrective adjustments and /or notify appropriate supervision. Follows the 5 S's by routinely sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing and sustaining the work area. Verifies equipment is in proper working order, adhering to "Total Productive Manufacturing" philosophies.
High School Diploma, or GED.
Works with integrity in all aspects of work and able to work collaboratively with various functional groups.
Follows safety practices and policies, maintaining a safety minded culture. Keeps work area clean and orderly, apply LEAN and 6S principles to work.
Any combination of education, training or work related experience that, in the eyes of a
supervisor, would qualify the individual to meet the majority of the items listed in the assessment. The assessment specifically targets the knowledge, skills, abilities and desire needed to perform all essential duties efficiently and satisfactorily. Successful completion of General Dynamics OTS mechanical aptitude test is a prerequisite to holding the laborer title. Physical lifting, pushing and pulling abilities include light work thru very heavy work. Successful completion of a 30-day probation period is required.
