The semi-skilled operator works as part of a manufacturing line in the Production Shop operating a variety of machines. Semi-skilled operators will produce parts in tolerance at the rate required by each operation.
Performs all assigned duties not limited to running mill flat machine, air testing parts produced, running band press machine, working soldering operation, running turn brass machine, loading and unloading bonderizer, painting inside diameters, repairing damaged paint, operating inertia welder, welding base plates, knurling band groove and bead blasting. Constantly operating multiple machines while lifting, pulling and pushing manufactured products at the established rate of production. Regularly setting up, installing, replacing and removing associated materials and tooling. Frequently reading and comprehending work instructions and blue prints. Often making adjustments to bring parts into tolerance. May be required to work shore car area assisting in shipping, receiving and distribution of incoming materials. Repeatedly lifting, loading and unloading a broad variety of products and materials. Frequently works with hand tools to secure materials and products for transportation. Knows basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Measures all manufactured products accurately through lifting, pulling, pushing followed by applying proper technique to hand measuring tools, template gages, flush pin gages and other product related measuring equipment.
Works with and follows Basic Rules of Manufacturing, General Dynamics OTS Environmental Policy, ISO Documentation, Quality Policy and other work related policies.
At all times demonstrates common safety practices associated with the manufacturing environment and the use of hand or industrial equipment. Is required to recognize problems, make corrective adjustments and /or notify appropriate supervision. Follows the 5 S's by routinely sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing and sustaining the work area. Verifies equipment is in proper working order, adhering to "Total Productive Manufacturing" philosophies.
High School Diploma, GED, Associate's degree preferred.
Works with integrity in all aspects of work and able to work collaboratively with various functional groups.
Follows safety practices and policies, maintaining a safety minded culture. Keeps work area clean and orderly, apply LEAN and 6S principles to work.
A machining degree from a college or technical school or any combination of education, training or work related experience that would qualify the individual to meet the majority of the items listed in the assessment. The assessment specifically targets the knowledge, skills, abilities and desire needed to perform all essential duties efficiently and satisfactorily.
Physical lifting, pushing and pulling abilities include light work to very heavy work.
Successful completion of a 30-day probation period is required.
