We are currently recruiting for our client, a Global Telecommunications Organisation ​for a Support Engineer to join their project in​ Germany​.

Position Title: Support Engineer
Position Type: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months rolling contract
Location: Darmstadt

Key tasks:
- Customer issue handling
- Handling of proactive support
- Software Update Management (SUM) handling
- Knowledge Management Tool (KCS) Coaching
- Remote Service Gateway (RSG) Coaching
- System Administration of existing hosted solution
- Customer Training
- On-Call support
- Provide Material for technical documentation
- Service Platform Operations and Support: design; build out; health monitoring, metrics and upgrades
- Evaluate and analyse systems, performance, issues and metrics in order to provide recommendations to engineering for service improvements
- Participate in bug reviews and feature enhancements meetings with a cross functional team
- Comfortable with installing, configuring and testing applications on mobile devices
- Comfortable with installing, configuring and testing software packages in a MS Windows and Linux environment
- Application configuration and monitoring

Required skills and experience:
- Knowledge of Postgres and/or Cassandra Database and Schema Management
- High Level Understanding of IP Networking
- HTTP delivery and Web Services Experience
- HLS and Smoothstreaming Experience a plus!
- Basic Understanding of Client Platform Development (I.E: iOS, Android, Web, Roku...)
- Scripting language knowledge (BASH, PHP, C or C++, Java..)
- English fluency both verbal and writing is essential
- Previous Mediaroom Reach technical experience is desirable
- Works effectively in situations involving uncertainty, change, or lack of information.
- Self-starter with ability and ambition to work remotely, onsite with a specific customer for extended or dedicated periods of time.
- MS Windows Knowledge and System Management
- Linux knowledge is desirable
