Building Services Maintenance Engineer|
Electrical - West London - up to £32,000 plus overtime
This is a very large university hospital involved in the research and development of new pharmaceutical and treatments for neurological illness. The buildings are more like a laboratory rather than a conventional Hospital.
The site plant ranges from chilled water systems, water treatment plant, medical gasses, fume cupboards, extraction plant, Generator plant, HV and LV switch gear UPS systems, BMS systems, chillers and boiler equipment.
The team is a mixed skill base of Mechanical and Electrical engineers and consists of a maintenance manager, a maintenance supervisor and five maintenance engineers.
The company is a large building services maintenance provider, one of the top ten in the London and South East. They provide building services maintenance solutions to large commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, life sciences, banking and critical business environments.
This is a research facility so planned preventative maintenance is the main thrust of the work during the day. It is a working pharmaceutical production environment which means dealing with, clean rooms, fume cupboards, laboratories and some very specialised equipment.
In addition to the Mechanical and Electrical systems you would also be responsible for the Fabric and the infrastructure of the campus. Taking ownership of problems is the key to being a part of the team. If you see a problem, deal with it and try to resolve it.
You would need to be able to liaise with the various hospital departmental managers in order to ensure that all parties are aware of the schedule of works; as there is a diverse mixture of maintenance contracts that are highly process driven and use systems of KPi's and SLA's in order to reduce the disruption to the service delivery.
The Right Person
Ideally we would prefer an engineer qualified in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. If you have an area of specialism such as Air conditioning, HVAC, Controls, Electrical testing or Boilers that would be advantageous.
A strong building services technical background is really what counts.
There are opportunities for a lot of overtime; you can also work at other sites that are associated with the university. You can learn about some very unusual plant and become a specialist.
If you are a Maintenance Engineer with Mechanical or Electrical experience and would like to discuss this position in more detail please submit your CV via this advert to Martin Paxman at The Management Recruitment Group or call (Apply online only) in confidence
