WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff is currently looking to hire an entry level, Assistant Traction Power Engineer to work in the Newark, NJ office. The selected candidate will work as an entry-level Assistant Electrical Engineer under the general direction of the Traction Power Manager and technical direction and mentorship by senior staff. The Assistant Engineer will work for and directly with the assigned Traction Power Engineers in developing Drawings, writing Specifications, performing Calculations, and running software programs relating to dc Traction Power Third Rail and ac Overhead systems. The selected candidate will also be involved in producing CADD drawings using Auto CAD or Micro Station software as applicable upon completion of the Design.

Key Duties Include:
      • Developing Traction Power Design projects in house and at project sites
      • Supporting senior staff in research and design of power systems for transit and rail applications
      • Supporting pursuit and proposal efforts to win future contracts
      • Potential assignments include transit and rail projects in Minnesota, New York, and New Jersey

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Must be a graduate in an accredited degree program at a recognized US University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering
        • Preferred GPA: 3.0 and Above; Minimum GPA: 2.5
Experience/Skills Required:
      • Must be proficient in the use of Computer Software such as Word, Excel, MathCad, and other commonly used software for ac Power System analysis
      • Good written and verbal communications skills and understanding of English Language required

Desired Qualifications:
      • EIT certification preferred
      • IEEE Student Membership preferred
      • No previous traction power experience required, but any experience with the Rail Transit Industry or Government Agencies in US is preferred
      • Any experience with dc Traction Power Systems software will be considered a plus

The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
