The Inspector "A" works throughout the facility assuring quality through the use of Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Eddy Current, chemical etch, measuring tools and gages. The Inspector "A" will inspect parts at the rate required by each operation.
Performs all assigned duties not limited to running and calibrating multiple U.T. machines while lifting, pulling, and pushing manufactured products at the established rate of production. Regularly works M.P.I. and Eddy Current through visual inspection to detect product defects. Constantly works with calibrated measuring tools and gages accurately inspecting and documenting. Frequently communicates quality findings with supervision and operators. Frequently reads and comprehends work instructions and blue prints. May be required to perform chemical etching. Repeatedly lifts, loads and unloads chemical tank. Frequently works with hand tools. Operates hand forklift to move inspected material. Knows basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Works with and follows Basic Rules of Manufacturing, General Dynamics OTS Environmental Policy, ISO Documentation, Quality Policy and other work related policies.
At all times demonstrates common safety practices associated with the manufacturing environment and the use of hand or industrial equipment. Is required to recognize problems, make corrective adjustments and /or notify appropriate supervision. Follows the 5 S's by routinely sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing and sustaining the work area. Verifies equipment is in proper working order, adhering to "Total Productive Manufacturing" philosophies.
High School Diploma, GED, Associate's degree preferred.
Communicates well (verbally and in writing), organized, and detail oriented.
Works with integrity in all aspects of work and able to work collaboratively with various functional groups.
Follows safety practices and policies, maintaining a safety minded culture. Keeps work area clean and orderly, apply LEAN and 6S principles to work.
Any combination of education, training or work related experience that would qualify the individual to meet the majority of the items listed in the work evaluation/assessment.
The assessment specifically targets the knowledge, skills, abilities and desire needed to perform all essential duties efficiently and satisfactorily. Physical lifting, pushing and pulling abilities include light work thru very heavy work. Successful completion of a 30-day probation period is required.
MPI requires the successful completion of a certification test.
