WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking a Sr. Engineer with 5-7 years of experience in the design of signaling systems for mass transit and/or heavy rail. The Sr. Engineer position can be based out of Newark, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, or Pittsburgh, PA. The project locations will primarily be the Northeast transit market. Specific duties of this role include the following:
      • Work within a team environment to design signaling systems for greenfield and brownfield transit sites;
      • Interact with engineers from other companies as well as transit authorities and heavy rail entities on designs and interfaces to subsystems external to signaling systems;
      • Develop initial design concepts and labor estimates for proposals;
      • Travel to customer sites to gain an understanding of project requirements;
      • Create and provide presentations of signaling system designs to customers.

Job Requirements
      • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or a documented degree from a foreign university in Railway Signaling
      • The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of fixed-block signaling design experience with a transportation consulting firm or signaling system supplier in the design of wayside and / or cab signaling for mass transit and heavy rail
      • A firm understanding of fixed-block concepts, signaling hardware, and safety-related design practices
      • Experience with engineering design on at least two transit or heavy rail projects
      • Ability to review and understand route & aspect charts, block & control line drawings, and other related documents
      • EIT or PE certification preferred
      • Experience with PTC or CBTC technologies preferred
      • Good verbal and written communication skills
      • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
      • Immediate availability to work in the US
