About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a senior consultant in our international development team in the United Kingdom. We are looking for a candidate with a background and interest in infrastructure, urban development and/or trade issues in emerging economics. You will play a key role in in winning and delivering projects and building our business in the UKAid market. You will work closely with AECOM's technical teams to tailor our vast service offering in the infrastructure and cities space to a new set of clients. The successful candidate should be motivated and willing to develop and take on more responsibility as the team matures.

Job responsibilities will include:

•Building relationships with clients, partners and consultants
•Raising awareness of AECOM in the international development market, which may include speaking at conferences and developing thought leadership pieces
•Managing bid processes, including some technical writing
•Contributing to the oversight and management of project delivery
•Taking part in developing innovative solutions to development problems

The successful candidate will be customer oriented with strong written and oral communications skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive experience in international development or other relevant field
  • Experience in the technical sector - infrastructure, cities, trade - preferred
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • Proven track record of bidding for, winning and implementing complex, multi-year international development projects, ideally with DFID and the FCO
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and manage risk
  • Experience working with teams with diverse backgrounds and across geographical locations
  • Experience in the application of common project management and monitoring tools and methodologies in the international development field, such as the use of logical frameworks
  • Strong numeracy skills with past experience developing and managing complex budgets and pricing strategies
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree
Prior experience working on international development projects for the UK Government
