About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking an Industrial Production Technician for Code 943 in support of Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center; Norfolk Naval Base to provide production management on a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, for fluid systems, including all pumps used onboard U.S. Navy vessels.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical guidance, and check drawings, memoranda, tests, reports, material requests and other documents, for technical adequacy and conformance with procedures.
  2. Establish and maintain objective quality evidence in support of Continuous Process Improvement efforts to improve technical products.
  3. Apply a variety of methods, procedures, and techniques to layout, install, align, overhaul, repair, and maintain numerous types of marine machinery, equipment, and systems that are technically more complex.
  4. Train shipboard personnel to perform standard maintenance.
  5. Review drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and conformity to applicable standards and regulations.
  6. Prepare and interpret specifications, calculating weights, volumes, and stress factors.
  7. Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
  8. Supervise and train other technicians.
  9. Plan, develop, implement, coordinate and administer repair and construction projects generated by work requests, including the determination of scope of work, preparation of cost estimates, execution of original design concepts, preparation of detail drawings, preparation of technical requirements, contract preparation and project administration.
  10. Prepare cost estimates, technical specifications for the contract purchase of complex repair and construction items, designs and plans for alterations, remodeling and repairs to various types of machinery and equipment, new construction and the development of contracts, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  11. Make field investigations to ascertain existing conditions, to confirm customer requirements and to identify special problems and their solutions.
  12. Perform all other position related duties as assigned for requested.

Minimum Requirements
  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least 8 years of job-related experience or equivalent of full-time hands-on technical experience in the installations, testing, troubleshooting fault isolation and repair of shipboard systems/equipment.
  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Minimum of 3 years full time hands-on technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modifications, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of shipboard fluid systems and pump troubleshooting, overhaul, installation, alignment, and final operational testing.
  • Prior Navy experience or experience working on Navy maintenance contracts.
  • Position requires and Active Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card.
  • Position will require travel to local bases and shipyards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with MARMC Code 900, production as Ship Sup, Planner/Estimator, Pump Shop preferred.
