Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Code Compliance Officer for immediate employment in the New York, NY office. Under direct supervision of the Senior Code Compliance Manager, the incumbent will manage, coordinate, and track issues of the various project elements assigned, as they apply to code compliance, associated with design review, inspections during construction and issuance of plan review, inspection reports in accordance with all codes, rules and regulations of NYS and MTA agencies (MNR, Amtrak, NYCT and LIRR).

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists and reports to the MTACC Code Compliance Manager on ESA issues
  • Manages and coordinates code compliance plan with the designers and elected railroads for the assigned project packages to include design review, interface with consultants to ensure regulatory agency issues and input are thoroughly addressed and coordinates strategy with all regulatory agency issues and inputs into assigned project's code compliance design development and acceptance processes
  • Manages and tracks requests and issuances of project construction permits
  • In conjunction with the Construction Manager, oversees construction inspectors on assigned project ensuring compliance with all codes, rules and regulations. When appropriate, recommends or causes others to issue notices of violation, stop work orders and temporary approval for occupancy
  • Prepares code compliance certificates on completed 3rd party contractors' construction work
  • Provides overall guidance and supervision of subordinates
  • Assists the Construction Manager in closing out code related issues and items at the end of the project

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture or related
  • 5 years of experience in project management with emphasis on code compliance
  • Ability to get NYS Code Enforcement Official certification within 12 months of start date
  • Superior knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards and effective interface with multiple contractors
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings, as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered architect or Professional engineer
  • Current Code Enforcement Official certification
