The Strategic Growth Opportunities (SGO) team is tasked with undertaking projects which explore and interpret trends, transformations and developments worldwide across the full breadth of the PESTLE spectrum, from geopolitical change to emerging business models. Working in concert with other Innovation teams and activities across the UK, the SGO team then proposes and incubates new business propositions which exploit changing circumstances to generate growth for the company.

Purpose of Role:
In this role you will design and deliver the programmes of activity which turn SGO projects from initial ideas into first class outputs. Working with SGO team colleagues and project sponsors / partners, you will translate each project’s intent into a structured and fit for purpose programme of work, and develop each project element into a high level deliverable with benchmark strategic, intellectual and business value. You will be an evangelist and ambassador for SGO and RTI work and values.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible; working with Head of SGO and sponsors, for undertaking initial investigation of potential SGO projects, and working with Head of SGO and sponsors to ensure project intent is fully captured at launch.
Following each project’s commissioning, working as the SGO Developer, you will be responsible for developing the work plan, updated dynamically throughout project life, using the SGO operating model to ensure work elements are differentiated and value-adding. Responsibilities are bespoke to each project and generated during launch phase, typically including:
  • Research and scoping of key areas of enquiry
  • Pragmatic identification of achievable, value adding outputs
  • Delivery of analytical and creative work packages
  • Development and execution of external and internal engagement programme with appropriate prep and capture
  • Source and leverage resource and capabilities from RTI, GTM and other sources as required
  • Support Head of SGO in ensuring sign off, and communication of final project deliverable

As the SGO Developer you will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the SGO approach, inc operating model, ways of working and supporting methodologies, drawing on team and wider stakeholders as required, and ensuring it is captured in a compelling and innovative way.

The SGO Developer is a key ambassador for SGO work and the RTI function more widely, and is jointly responsible with Head of SGO for identifying and briefing appropriate internal and external audiences to ensure that project content and conclusions are widely communicated. You are also responsible for evangelising and briefing the SGO team approach internally when opportunities arise.
