About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
Provide Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) support during shipboard Combat Systems tasks including Pier Side Refurbishments, equipment assessments programs and Tech Assist events. Perform operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, functional checks, troubleshooting, testing, onboard maintenance training, assessment, inspection, engineering/technical evaluation , groom, calibration, removal/installation, overhaul, repair, restoration/refurbishment, modernization, and/or upgrade of Navy surface combatant ship Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) and associated equipment.
Write technical, debrief, and trip reports.
Conduct oral debriefings to management and technical personnel.
Will require a significant amount of overseas travel.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Must have successfully completed U.S. Navy rating "A" school and Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) "C" school or equivalent hands-on experience.
Must have an in-depth knowledge of Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS).
Experience with maintaining and testing cables, connectors, and components.
Familiarity with hardware, software, test equipment used to evaluate and correct operational failures (i.e. multi-meter's, o-scopes, network analyzers and special purpose test equipment.
A minimum of five (5) years total experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS), sub-systems, and associated equipment.
Must be capable of using and reading technical operation and maintenance documentation and manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and data tables.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of technical publications related to Navy surface ship combat and/or electronic systems.
Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral expression.
Must know theory of electrical and electronic principles.
Must possess or be able to attain a Secret Security Clearance.
Must possess an active U.S. Passport

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred working knowledge of and experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) including the control console, Gatling gun, radar, and computer sub-systems and special purpose test equipment required in support of the AEGIS Combat System.
