Fantastic Opportunity for a current Manager or Director to run the Southern office business of an SME Construction Consultancy.

Main Focus

Manage Health & Safety & CDM resources across the Southern Office(s)
To overview projects, workload and targets
To communicate effectively at all levels
To identify future talent and monitor development
To be Regional Director for Health & Safety and delivery within the business, to uphold the company reputation of reliability and quality in accordance with the company's way and to deliver a first class service

Core responsibilities:

Undertake all duties associated with a Line Manager/Senior Adviser to the Principal Designer/ Client (CDM 2015) Adviser and to communicate with all Directors.
Be a facilitator for effective communication at all levels in relation to project and business / personal expectations.
To establish new structures for effective project and office management; to embrace and instigate change as directed by the Board.
To promote the culture by recognising both emotional and intellectual abilities.
To provide effective cost control on all Health & Safety projects and to work within agreed targets.
To identify client problems and to create new opportunities for the future: Problem seeking / Problem solving.
Identify, encourage and nurture talent - present yourself as a positive role model and inspire.
Maintain and build on relationships with existing and new clients and contacts and identify and share new work opportunities. Be a strong motivator to your team.
Manage and forecast resources to ensure effective delivery of projects.
Identify areas to add value and innovation at all levels of the construction and business process.


To look to the future and to react to changes and challenges emerging.
Stream line operations by creating cost innovative business solutions whilst delivering a first class service.
Maintain and build client relationships to ensure a high standard of technical service, secure repeat business and develop profitable workload.
Undertake continuing professional development on a regular basis in accordance with the Institute for Occupation Safety & Health and the Association of Project Safety or other professional body.
Instigate effective communication between teams and contribute feedback in relation to project and business expectations.
Comply with all company technical, office and quality procedures.
Contribute to maintaining high office standards and ensuring technical policies and procedures remain valid and consistent.
Continually seek opportunities to publicise externally or to publicise specific achievements or projects internally.
Assist in the development of less experienced staff by acting as mentor, presenting yourself as a positive role model, offering guidance, advice and support as necessary so passing / imparting your knowledge to others.
Provide support to the relevant Director (Building Surveying) as necessary in relation to their provision of the Principal Designer role.
Retain up to date technical knowledge in relation to construction methods, technology and market trends and continue to share your knowledge with colleagues and peers.
Where appropriate represent the company at design team meetings, site meetings and other meetings as agreed at commencement of the project in the completion of the above duties.
Ensure full awareness of all current appropriate legislation and forthcoming changes to the above duties that may result from future changes to legislation.
Membership of appropriate Professional Institutions and completion of Continuing Professional Development as required.
Willingness to undertake further study and training where agreed that this would benefit the services provided by the company.
Assist Fee Earners and Administrative Staff with development of service offering to reflect best practice.
Assist Fee Earners and Administrative Staff in providing technical services.
Give general advice with regard to health & safety and advice relating to construction health & safety issues.
Have appropriate qualifications and experience for the assigned tasks.
Be able to encourage co-operation, co-ordination and communication between designers.
Promote and raise awareness of the Business and services offered.
Provide technical seminars as required.
Contribute feedback and suggestions to weekly team meetings and quarterly staff office meetings.
Undertake development initiatives as agreed to assist in the achievement of both personal and business objectives within set timescales.

Skills and Competencies:

Be an excellent communicator (verbally and in writing) to both internal and external peers and clients to deal with all situations.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels, internally and externally.
Ensure appropriate use of digital media in above communications.
Possess high degree of organisational skills to manage a variety of tasks and prioritise own and subordinates workload.
Manage time effectively to deliver projects within timescales and on budget.
Be confident working with figures and ensure accuracy of calculations at all times.
Have a level of understanding of relevant numeracy software e.g. Microsoft Excel, Formulae etc.
Have a level of understanding of operating software and technical software e.g. Microsoft Office, etc.
Ability to work as part of a team to deliver a quality service to a high standard.
Ability to use own initiative and take responsibility, where appropriate
