Nescot is a forward-looking College of Further & Higher Education that serves a large area of South East England with a wide range of vocational and academic courses, both full and part time. The College is situated in Ewell, close to Epsom in Surrey, and is located in the green belt near Epsom Downs and can easily be accessed either by car (junctions 8-10 on the M25) or rail (Ewell West is close and the college is next to Ewell East where you can get regular direct trains to Clapham Junction and Victoria). The College was last inspected in February 2016 retaining its overall grading of 'Good' under the robust new Ofsted standards.

We are currently recruiting to the following position:

Information Skills Co-ordinator

(Temporary Maternity Cover until July 2017)

up to £22,778 p.a.

This is an exciting position within a busy college Learning Resources Centre. Your role will be to develop and coordinate the delivery of digital and information skills workshops to students to enable them to make the best use of learning resources, thereby helping them to achieve their academic potential. In addition, you will help to oversee the day-to-day running of the Learning Resource Centre, ensuring that the space is used effectively to support independent study and learning.

Key tasks will include:

To develop, promote and deliver a digital and information skills programme appropriate for students on a variety of courses ranging from Entry Level to Higher Education.

To support and develop information literacy within the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

To work with colleagues and learning partners to ensure appropriate resources and support are in place to support the curriculum and respond to national educational initiatives.

To keep up-to-date with changing technologies and teaching methods which support digital and information skills

To contribute to college quality assurance procedures by measuring and recording the impact of the digital and information skills programme on student achievement.

To contribute to strategic planning, policy development and objective setting for the Learning Resources Service by liaising with staff throughout the College.

To contribute to the promotion of the LRC services and to contribute new ideas for developing the service.

We are looking for a qualified person with a degree or above in a Library or Information Science related discipline. Ideally you should have some experience working in a library and/or information environment, and have the potential to teach digital and information literacy skills to learners with a wide range of abilities.

To be successful in the role you will need to have excellent customer service and ILT skills, you will be a strong communicator in a wide range of situations and have the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of team. A committed professional with an understanding of further and higher education, you will also have a positive approach to change and development.

This post will be particularly suitable for recently graduated students seeking their first professional position or for those who wish to return to the profession after a career break.
