Mechanical Design Engineer (Machinery) Cambridge £38k|
Huxley Engineering and a Global Name in Space & Aerospace Engineering are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis for their offices in the Cambridge area to design and development new equipment and machinery.
Reporting into the Head of R&D, the role of the Mechanical Design Engineer is to design and development new machinery and equipment, as well overseeing and undertaking the prototyping and testing of products.
Essential functions and duties
*Produce high quality mechanical new product designs to specification and on time, to develop design from first principles using best practice processes and systems, and ensuring compliance with existing and upcoming regulations.
*To provide mechanical technical solutions from within the R&D team.
*To provide mechanical design solutions for the engineering team using design tools (3D CAD (Solidworks), legacy 2D CAD (ME10), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) & Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
For this Mechanical Design Engineer role, my client are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who holds an Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and has demonstrable experience in a mechanical design and development role working in a design for manufacture product development environment.
Technical competencies required for the Mechanical Design Engineer role:
*Significant experience in:
◦Mechanical system design (ideally including electro-mechanical systems) and analysis (3D & 2D CAD, FEA & CFD)
◦Testing and Developing of prototype designs
◦Product lifecycle with product approvals / CE compliance
◦Competent working appreciation of regulatory compliance (CE) marking requirements and associated regulations.
◦Knowledge and experience of implementing and developing quality procedures such as ISO9001 essential.
◦Knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety standards ISO14001 & OHSAS18001 would be an advantage.
This Mechanical Design Engineer role is commutable from Cambridge, Royston, St Neots, Stevenage, Bedford, Huntingdon, Hatfield, Harlow and Luton and for the successful Mechanical Design Engineer, a salary reflective of experience is on offer (Circa £35,000 -38,000 + Benefits).
Please note - Due to the nature of the role and projects, some travel around Europe / Overseas is required for this role
