Our client is a growing successful multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy operating across a matrix of projects, with a strong presence in the following sectors:

Industrial developments with clients that include some of the North East's major manufacturers
Commercial office developments, both privately and publicly funded
Design and Build commercial and industrial schemes

They are now seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their dynamic and growing team in Tyne & Wear.

You will be responsible for aspects of design work from conception through to technical approval/completion on projects ranging from £0.5m to £20m.

In the team you will be responsible for design quality and profitable delivery and will report to the Director.

Potential schemes you may be working on range from Student Accommodation, various Retail Units including High Spec Car Show Rooms, Educational Buildings, Industrial Units and Commercial offices.

Responsibilities may include:
Preparation of fee proposals for Director's authorisation
Delivery of scheme designs and input into scheme design reports
Delivery of detailed design including full tender and construction package
Liaison with statutory authorities, architects, the design team and contractors
Attendance at client, design and site meetings, and site inspections and reporting
Management of engineers and technicians
Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures, and providing advice on any issues that may arise
Analysing and reporting on structural defects and remediation if required
Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes
Preparation of detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notes
Preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender purposes with assistance of Technician
Production of Construction information for issue to Contractors
Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors
Providing day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office

In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook you will need to have:
MEng in Structural Engineering or a first degree in a related discipline
Chartered Membership or Associate Membership of the ICE or IStructE
Minimum 6-8 years structural design experience in core materials; Concrete, Steel, Masonry, and Timber
Qualitative and quantitative experience in building structures or infrastructure design
Strong communication skills, in both written and spoken English
Analysis, technical design and drawing skills
Be a self-motivated team player with good people skills
Competent Designer with Master Series experience
