My client is a World Leading Building & Civil Engineering Contractor.
They are looking to appoint, on a permanent basis a Sub-Agent to work on Rail projects throughout Berkshire and Oxfordshire on a variety of Design and Build projects which total circa £25M.
Network Rail has negotiated a £25m contract with my client to deliver platform extensions in the Thames Valley from Paddington to Newbury, Oxford and associated branch lines.
This project will provide infrastructure capability enhancements to enable the operation of new longer electric trains.
Under present plans, up to 43 platforms need to be extended to cope with class 365 and 387 EMUs operating up to 12-car in length over core and diversionary route sections.
Core routes include Paddington to Oxford, Slough to Windsor and Eton Central, Twyford to Henley, Reading to Newbury and Reading to Basingstoke.
Work is expected to be completed in phases up to June 2017
The nature of the work will all be Station and Rail Infrastructure upgrades.
The works are spread over two separate rail routes heading Northwest and West of Reading, but the central office is in the Reading area.
The scope is to generally modify existing stations with platform extensions, facilities alterations and some minor building works.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Sub-Agent will be responsible for the delivery of one or more Station projects within the TVA EMU Scheme.
Key duties and Responsibilities
Management of a team of Engineers and Foremen.
Delivering the section within the schedule and budget.
Ensuring all self-certification of works is carried out on time.
Ensuring a safe working environment.
Managing specific sub-contract elements.
Preparation of resourced budgets and forecasts.
Comfortable being the main point of contact with the client/sub-contractors on site
Responsible for quality of workmanship in all areas on site
Responsible for productivity in all areas on site
Promote a high health & safety awareness throughout the site
Relevant administrator to be collated and appropriate site records to be maintained
Regular liaison with sub-contractors and clients on site
Co-ordination of sub-contractors on site
Control of works on site in conjunction with other members of site management team
Control of plant hire and maintenance and security of same
Commercial awareness and control on site
Management of Direct reports on site
Awareness of programme constraints and driving works to meet targets
Civil Engineering Background with Rail experience (Essential)
Previous experience in a similar role (Essential)
Significant supervisory experience (Essential)
Able to maintain a positive and safe working environment for site based staff (Essential)

A BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with recent and relevant experience in a similar role.
