Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an opening for an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Mechanical Design and Engineering Services team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with our Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Design Team. Key Responsibilities

The Entry Level Mechanical Engineer will perform design, development and engineering change in areas such as cabinets, consoles, electronic enclosures, cabling and integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) electronic equipment.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customer's changing business needs
  • Support engineering design changes
  • Interface with other departments and our customer

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of the need for formal engineering documentation of the design and the ability to effectively develop and evolve GDMS technology, process and documentation.

The Entry Level Mechanical Engineer position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent, and zero to two years of related experience or a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent and zero years of experience.

The candidate will be able to demonstrate prior experience in the following areas: 3D solid modeling CAD tools, engineering drawings, engineering change and the ability to organize, plan, track and execute on multiple tasks.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
