General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Subsea Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

Advanced Subsea Systems Engineers analyze, design, develop and test GDMS systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional Responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for General Dynamics Mission Systems operating systems to ensure designs meet specifications. These individuals may also be asked to provide evaluation and test support to ensure all technical features are considered and functioning properly.
Experience with the following responsibilities will be required.

  • Performs Concept of Operations (CONOPS) analysis and refinement
  • Supports System level requirements analysis and decomposition
  • Supports/Leads systems engineering trade studies
  • Considers and incorporates reliability, maintainability, safety, survivability, human and other requirements in the system solutions
  • Develops System Configuration Item (CI) development and procurement specifications
  • Participates in design reviews, gives technical presentations, and writes technical reports to provide status, results, and solutions to customers
  • Develops test plans and procedures to qualify and show compliance to system requirements
  • Tracks, verifies and validates functional, interface and performance requirements
  • Assists with the integration and installation of hardware and/or control systems, software algorithms

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Preference will be given to candidates that have experience working in a DOD environment, meet the basic qualifications and have subsea equipment, mechanical hardware installation and/or at sea deployment experience.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Advanced Systems Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other technical degree and at least five to eight years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of three to five years of related work experience are also eligible.

A U.S. Government TS/SCI/Poly security clearance is required at time of hire. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
