We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a rapidly growing engineering company which specialise in high pressure control valves. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing and further developing the existing product range. The successful candidate will support the sales and design departments with on-going projects as well as collecting relevant data from customer’s enquiries. You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, be willing to think creatively and be able to identify the right course of action in challenging situations.


• Assist with the creation and development of new products and support the existing product lines
• Design and build test facility to perform flow tests through pressure regulators
• Use test facility for performance testing of product to create pressure v flow curves
• Support Senior Design Engineer to create product design files
• Proof pressure testing of products using hydrostatic test rig
• Work with Senior Design Engineer to ensure product meets with third party approvals (eg. PED, ATEX, etc)
• Create supporting AUTOCAD Inventor drawings and reports to support theoretical and physical test results
• Create material data base based on required specification (NACE, FDA, PED etc.)
• Update existing ERP system with relevant specification
• Providing NDT as well as cycle tests to validate designed products


• You must have experience in a mechanical design role.
• A degree in mechanical engineering would be advantageous but not essential
• Be analytical with an enquiring mind and have the ability to find solutions to problems
• You will have a good knowledge of the standard IT packages and CAD/CAE
• You must be able to work independently and to manage several tasks at once
• You will need to work at a good pace and respond to deadlines
• Flexible in your approach to work and problem solving, and prepared to work on a variety of projects or products throughout the year
• Strong mechanical background ideally pneumatic/hydraulic systems
• Understanding of product “life” and importance of product validation
• Understanding of various material properties and ability to recognize potential suitability for use in company field
• Ability to read and understand machine drawings, and able to work with Autodesk Inventor and Vault management system at strong level
• Ability to create 2D drawings from models and verify design by calculations
• Understanding company internal procedures and standards, and understand the importance of brand awareness
• An interest in research and development and in ensuring that “products deliver what we say they will” would be highly advantageous.
• You will be a fast learner and will be able to understand the technical advantages of the product line that we produce
