Planning Officer (G6-G9)
ASAP - initial 3 month contract
North West London Local Authority
£18.00 - £22.00 p/h
41.5 hours per week
Penguin are working with a North West London Local Authority who are looking to recruit a Planning Officer to start ASAP for 3 months initially to cover the extra workload coming into the Planning team.
The postholder will operate within a team dealing either with planning policy, planning enforcement or development control. Movement between teams as part of an agreed personal development programme may be possible. Working under supervision of a team leader/principal planner, the role encompasses all of the activities associated with the provision of a statutory planning service. This career graded post provides opportunities within three distinct areas reflecting service need and career progression.
-The processing of planning applications
-The provision of general planning advice
-The processing of planning appeals
-Development of planning policy and associated documents
-Investigation of breaches and recommendations in respect of planning control
-Continuing professional development in Town Planning
-Mentoring/guidance of more junior team members.
-RTPI accredited degree and/or masters
-MRTPI (Desireable but not essential)
-Knowledge of current Town & Country planning, practise, procedures and legislation
-Ability to organise workload
-Ability to obtain, record and process information in a manner which is technically, factorally and grammatically accurate
-Ability to prepare accurate and detailed reports and to present information, verbally and in writing, in a manner which clearly demonstrates a thorough, structured, logical and orderly approach
-Experience in planning policy, planning enforcement or development management is essential
