Job Duties

· Be the primary custodian of Hatch's mineral process engineering skills, capabilities, methods, systems and tools in order to achieve excellence
· Support the regional process discipline leads and provide overall leadership to the global mineral process engineering group
· Manage the technical resources of the mineral processing group to ensure the necessary skills, up-to-date knowledge, experience and resources to efficiently produce quality and effective engineering outcomes are available in each region
· Manage the quality of process engineering work carried out by the group and take remedial action when necessary
· Provide technical leadership in the processing of gold, base metals, iron ore and industrial minerals
· Coordinate and facilitate strategic planning globally for the mineral processing group and contribute to the strategic planning for the mining and mineral processing business unit
· Manage, promote and take technical leadership of process innovation initiatives, including but not limited to comminution, ore sorting and leaching
· Maintain the consistency and quality of the process feasibility studies and engineering carried out by Hatch teams in Canada and globally by ensuring peer review and gate review processes are adhered to
· Provide the highest level of mining and mineral processing expertise to design, engineering and manage the projects undertaken by Hatch in Canada and globally
· Participate and Manage mine site audits, due diligence, studies, detail design and operational improvement of existing operations
· Providing mentorship and supervision to junior process engineers in Canada and globally
· Keep up to date with technology and operational developments in mineral processing and ensure that the global group does likewise
Terms of employment
Permanent, Full Time

40 Hours / Week

$180,000 - $210,000 per annum

Specific Skills

· Former experience managing a global and regional Mining and Mineral Process engineering team
· Experience at a senior management level across multiple business offices, such as Russia, Africa, Australia, South East Asia, Canada and the USA, with both internal and external stakeholders
· Engineering experience with project delivery in Mining, Infrastructure and Energy sectors, with specific experience in Mining and Mineral Process Engineering
· Management with a proven track record of project and study management across a broad range of metals including copper, nickel, gold, uranium, and iron ores
· Proven ability to conduct due diligence reviews of multiple base metal and iron ore projects for financial institutions and mining clients
· Understanding of and experience with project lifecycle processes, lifecycle risk assessments, gate reviews, project governance and performance assurance processes
· Demonstrated ability to successfully manage studies with multiple contributing offices, geographies and sub-consultants
· Ability to take both a high level and detailed view as necessary for differing levels of study and project execution
· Understanding of and experience with project delivery (Design and project controls/management) software systems and tools, such as: Primavera, SmartPlant, Comprehensive Project Delivery Database, etc.
· Experience with Business Intelligence systems, development and analysis of KPIs, trend analysis and other performance metrics
· High level of experience in process plant studies, operations and execution/management in varied commodities, locations, climates and environments
· Coordinate and facilitate strategic planning globally for the mineral processing group and contribute to the strategic planning for the mining and mineral processing business unit
