Job Title

Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

Reports to

Maintenance Manager
Staff responsibility

Job Purpose
Working Independently and with other maintenance personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks and maintain the Hospital’s infrastructure, building fabric undertaking this work in a medium security environment.

Principal Responsibilities

Undertake routine maintenance and repairs on plant, fixtures, fittings and equipment to the required standard

Undertake reactive works and repairs as assigned by the helpdesk to your PDA within agreed contract specifications on plant, fixtures, fittings and equipment and updating the helpdesk on progress of work and ensure all target times are met or where required extension requests are organised via the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.

Inform the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor on the current state of
jobs, provide information on the materials required and used to carry
out repairs.

Escort and monitor contractors undertaking maintenance or remedial work within the site, ensuring that they strictly adhere to the relevant Trust policies and procedures and comply with Health and Safety Regulations

Assist Small Works Manager with small works and variations within the Hospital as required.

Key holding and key security.

Undertake training as necessary to learn new techniques and skills, attend mandatory and/or awareness training deemed necessary and appropriate to the job role.

Participate in out of hours on call rota and be prepared to work occasional overtime when necessary or as requested by the Maintenance Manager.

Comply with all CIS/Trust policies and procedures relevant to the role.
e.g. Health and Safety and Quality

Undertake any other duties appropriate to ensure the health and Safety of Trust staff, patients, visitors and contractors requested by the Maintenance Manager.

Candidate Profile
Education Craft Certificate NVQ Level 1 / 2 in building/engineering or relevant qualification

Experience and Knowledge
Experience of working on a PFI environment.
Experience across the Engineering and Building trades.
Worked within NHS environment.
Worked under a Maintenance Management regime.

Personal Skills and Qualities
Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
Able to communicate (verbally & written).
Team Player
Logical thinker
Must be willing to work a fixed shift pattern 4 on 4 off and on a on call rota.
Physically fit (must be able to work at heights and carry reasonable loads)
